Just wanted to give a quick update on the new server setup progress.
I was up late Tuesday morning 9/9 (i.e. til 3am EDT) working on getting the development server up and running. We successfully ran a test of transferring the entire site over in a matter of a couple of hours and got the boards up and running with no problems whatsoever. Thus, I'm very confident that when the new server becomes available (I've been told that it should be ready this week - when, I'm not exactly sure), that we'll be able to make the transition quickly during the middle of the night while everyone is asleep :)
The plan will be to turn off the boards sometime after 10pm EDT on whatever night we do it, backup the forum databases, upload the files to the new server, restore the database, check everything out and make any needed changes to the server, and then finally, turn the boards on the new server... If all works well, only nightowls like TIDE-HSV will even notice it :)
There is always the possibility that some glitch (particularly on the DNS side) will keep the boards turned off or unavailable to some people into the morning hours. However, I will make a reminder post directing you to here so that you can follow the status of the upgrade, regardless of what is happening and whether or not the site is available to you!
Thanks for your patience and remember to support all of our sponsors and advertisers, buy your Bama gear via TideFansStore.com and your books via our Amazon.com links to help us keep making these fantastic updates and upgrades!
